Make complex infrastructure understandable.

Students, researchers, and developers need to understand how cloud resources are requested, allocated, and paid for before they can evaluate a marketplace. Our learning library explains the full sequence: a tenant places an order, providers offer bids, an accepted bid creates a lease, usage is recorded, and escrow supports settlement.

The guides connect those concepts to VirtEngine’s own design. Readers can follow an agreement through the marketplace, examine the role of identity, and see how a dispute affects payment. The module reference then maps those concepts to individual software responsibilities.

These resources are available now without payment, an account, a token, or identity verification. They support self-directed learning; we do not advertise accredited courses or qualifications.

02 / OPEN-SOURCE DEVELOPMENT

Let people inspect the rules and improve them.

VirtEngine develops a cloud marketplace protocol whose rules can be inspected in source code. Its design connects resource requests, provider bidding, workload deployment, usage records, and settlement. Publishing the implementation makes the proposed behaviour available for technical scrutiny rather than asking users to rely on a product claim.

Developers can review the Apache 2.0 licensed repository, investigate a module, report a reproducible problem, or propose an improvement. Infrastructure operators can study how the provider daemon connects marketplace decisions to orchestration and how the Waldur integration fits into that workflow.

The intended benefit is more transparent and reusable infrastructure technology. The software is still in development: published code is an opportunity to study and contribute, not a claim that a production network is available or independently certified.

03 / PRIVACY & TRUST

Examine how identity and accountability can coexist.

A marketplace needs ways to establish trust without making every participant’s sensitive information publicly readable. VirtEngine’s VEID design explores encrypted identity data, verification by network validators, and the use of verification results in protocol decisions.

Our materials explain the distinction between the identity data, the verification process, and the records used by other modules. They give researchers and developers a concrete design to question: what information is disclosed, who can decrypt it, how results are checked, and where access controls apply.

VEID is decentralised protocol technology. The Foundation does not operate a central VEID verification service. The published design should be assessed alongside its implementation and current development status; it is not a claim of regulatory accreditation or a guarantee of privacy in a deployed service.

Our present outputs are the public software repository, technical specifications, learning guides, module references, and current journal articles. The journal separates current protocol writing from the preserved 2015–2016 history of the earlier VirtEngine project.

Our intended beneficiaries include learners studying infrastructure, developers building open systems, researchers examining privacy and trust, and operators preparing to participate in a future network. Broader access to computing and more transparent infrastructure markets are goals; we do not present projected savings, adoption, or social outcomes as achieved impact.

The network is not live. Public TestNet is planned for January 2027 and MainNet for March 2027, subject to testing and separate approval. The network page explains those conditions. Reading the resources and contributing to the project are possible today.
